Training Program on Detection Methods for GM Foods and Plants |
ILSI India organized the
first training program on "Detection Methods for GM Foods and Plants" and created a
pool resources persons in the country in this area. The programs were organized jointly
with Department of Biotechnology, GOI, Center for DNA fingerprinting and Diagnostics,
Hyderabad Industrial Toxicology Research Center, Lucknow, American Association of Cereal
Chemists, and ILSI International Food Biotechnology Committee. Details of this training

conducted by 6 international and 7 national experts. |

Technical Workshop and Training Program on Risk Based Approaches for Food Safety Management |

ILSI India organized a two day Workshop and Training Program to raise awareness of Risk Based Approaches for Food Safety Management, covering Microbiological and Chemical Hazards, and Food Allergens and hands on Training Program on case studies in New Delhi. The hands on training program provided practical knowledge for handling microbial and chemical contaminants and taking necessary actions for their prevention. The Workshop and Training Program were organized in collaboration with Ministry of Food Processing Industries GOI and Export Inspection Council, Ministry of Commerce, GOI. Corporate co-sponsors were: Coca Cola India, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. and Kejriwal Enterprises. |

International Workshop and Training Program on Good Food Laboratory Practices |

The importance of trained manpower for ensuring quality test results and ensuring food safety is well recognized. International Life Sciences Institute-India (ILSI India), Food Safety and Standard Authority of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India (FSSAI) and Export Inspection Council, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India (EIC) have been devoting attention to the need for capacity building. FSSAI, EIC and ILSI India organized the model Workshop & Training Program on “Good Food Laboratory Practices”. |
The Workshop and Training Program were addressed by 25 national and international experts from government, academic institution and industry. The program included a combination of lectures and demonstration in the laboratories. |
The Training Program imparted theoretical knowledge and provided hands on training on chemical and microbiological testing, design, accommodation and environment in a food testing lab, laboratory safety and waste disposal, analytical challenges in ensuring compliance in international trade, importance of proficiency testing/inter laboratory comparisons, quality control cheeks in food testing laboratories, compliance of ISO: 17025 in food testing laboratories etc. |
